Key Research and Expertise:
The evolution of the early Earth (3,500 to 1,500 million years ago). In particular links between tectonics, volcanic and sedimentary environments and the evolution of the atmosphere, biosphere, oceans and ore deposits.
Other Expertise:
Igneous petrology and geochemistry.
Tectonic controls on Au and Cu deposits, the origin of iron ores, komatiite hosted Ni deposits, and volcanogenic massive Cu-Zn sulphide deposits.
Member, Steering Committee NASA Astrobiology Drilling Program,
Editorial Board Precambrian Research
Associate Member, Penn State Astrobiology Research Centre
