Honours Year or Master of Philosophy?

Are you completing your undergraduate degree in Australia? Did you know that Honours is not the only track to a doctoral program. You can take a Master of Philosophy instead. There are major advantages in the latter: You have 18 months instead of around half that time for an Honours program. Doctoral scholarships are open equally to Honours and MPhil students. But the Honours will cost you HECS that you'll have to pay back later, while the MPhil is offered under the research training scheme. See here for more details.
